More money than ever
SEK 5 millions to cancer research

Gunnar Nilsson's Cancer Foundation's support to cancer research in southern Sweden amounts to just over 5 millions this year. Last year's donations from the public - approx. SEK 430.000 - are divided between 4 prominent researchers in Malmö and Uppsala.

Last year's positive development on the stock market made it possible for Gunnar Nilsson's Cancer Foundation to increase their grants with approx. 25 % from 4 to 5 millions. Generous contributions from amongst others the publishing company Albinsson & Sjöberg in Karlskrona meant that the total sum SEK 430.000 could go to 4 prominent researchers specialized in prostate and lung cancer.

- We very much appreciate being able to give this extra support to particularly these two types of cancer , says professor Dick Killander, chairman of the foundation. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Sweden. Both types of cancer need all the support they can get.

Several of this year's recipients of grants work at the Gunnar Nilsson Cancer research unit at the University hospital in Lund. Since more than a year back we have some of the country's foremost cancer researchers gathered under one roof in order to take advantage of each other's expertise and international net work.
