The chairman speaks
In 1998 we started up a campaign in order to make Gunnar Nilsson's Cancer Foundation known to the public. The reason for this was to encourage people to donate money to cancer research but also to put the foundation "on the map".

So far we are pleased to note that this endeavour has been successful. We receive contributions every day and many people contact us. Here I would like to take the opportunity to thank the newspapers who run our advertisements free of charge. And, of course, all of you who have donated money! But we must not become complacent! Our efforts to support cancer research goes on and we continue to try to assist all those who, in various projects, particularly in the south of Sweden, conduct research on cancer and treatments. Even though we are a comparatively small foundation, our contribution might, in certain cases, be the deciding factor in solving the puzzle. Today, many projects need support from several funds to be realised.   On our website there are examples of projects that the foundation has chosen to support. As you can see there is a wide range from basic research to clinically applied methods. But aside from these there is a great number of others of varying size that we have also chosen to support. Today nearly one in four Swedes gets cancer at some point in their life and cancer has become a common disease. Because of this it is important that cancer research encompasses all different variations of the disease and   does not focus just on long-term results.
